As of 2025, all Petzl ropes, including those featuring the UIAA Guide Dry treatment and Duratec DRY, are being made without PFAS

(per- and polyf luoroalkyl substances), in order to reduce our environmental impact.

Dynamic Ropes

Single ropes

Ropes used as a single strand. These are mainly used for single-pitch

climbing. Some climbers also use them for multi-pitch climbing

or mountaineering.

Half and Twin Ropes

These are certif ied to two types of the CE EN 892 standard.

• Half Ropes: ropes used in pairs that may be clipped separately

or together during progression. They are recommended for rappels

and to facilitate rope drag management. They provide a backup in case

one of the strands is damaged by a falling rock or a sharp edge.

• Twin Ropes: ropes used in pairs that, unlike half ropes, must always

be clipped together during progression. They are recommended

for rappels.

Multi-Type Ropes

Multi-type ropes are certif ied to three types of the CE EN 892 standard.

They may be used as a single, half, or twin rope.

Low Stretch Kernmantle Ropes

Low stretch kernmantle ropes have low elongation and are very

resistant to wear and abrasion. They’re designed for canyoning,

caving, hauling, and installing f ixed ropes.

Types of Ropes

Indicates the middle of the rope for easier rope

management (except for the 200-meter length).

Specif ic coil makes the rope ready for use; helps the user

avoid initial uncoiling mistakes (except for the 200-meter

length).

The core and the sheath are bonded together at the rope

ends for greater durability and to prevent frayed ends

(except for the 200-meter length).

Special treatment stabilizes core strands and improves

consistency, providing excellent grip and consistent

handling over time.

Dry treatment makes the rope more resistant to water,

dirt, and abrasion. Handling, grip, and other characteristics

are maintained longer in cold, wet conditions.

The UIAA Guide Dry treatment is our most complete water

repellent treatment for frequent use in wet environments:

ice climbing and mountaineering. It meets the requirements

of the UIAA Water Repellent Test and improves the rope’s

resistance to dirt and abrasion.
