Using two systems simultaneously on two separate
anchors provides optimal balance while cutting and
facilitates movement .

doubled rope ( DdRT / MRS ) , but may
also be used on single rope ( SRT / SRS )
with a stopper knot .
Single rope
ascent technique
The access rope is attached
to the base of the tree and runs
through an appropriate anchor
in the tree . It will also be used
for work . On a single rope ,
the ZIGZAG must only be used
with the CHICANE .
This technique allows for rapid
rescue and efficient climbing
with the KNEE ASCENT knee
ascender .

Doubled rope
ascent technique
The arborist ascends
the access rope ( purple ) .
In the event of a problem ,
such as a hornet attack ,
they can self - evacuate with
the work rope ( blue ) . A mule
knot or releasable knot secures
the ZIGZAG .
This versatile ascent technique
is adaptable to many situations
and allows an access rope to
be available during work .
