After a year with record temperatures never before re-
corded by the WMO (World Meteorological Organiza-
tion), 2024 saw numerous natural disasters including
devastating f ires, destructive hurricanes, uncontrollable
f loods, and more. Scientists report that these phenome-
na are recurring at an unprecedented rate, conf irming
that we are seeing an accelerating trend. All over the
world, people are already suf fering the tangible ef fects of
climate change. We are facing an emergency, and yet the
political and economic solutions of fered are struggling to
rise to the challenge.
Businesses, too, must do their bit, and more - we have
to change the way we think, and the way we do things.
The urgency of the situation is driving us to innovate and
reinvent our processes. By fostering creativity and de-
monstrating resilience, we can work together to f ind new
ways forward that are more in harmony with the world
around us.
Because we are aware of the part we have to play in this
situation, Petzl undertakes new projects every year to im-
prove its practices and reduce its environmental impact.
In 2023, we passed a milestone in industrial waste ma-
nagement with the rope of fcuts recycling project, a very
tangible example combining resilience and innovation.
We are also continuing to cut the use of plastics, with a
major step forward involving the transformation of our
professional helmet packaging which is now plasticfree
