OBJECTIVE
Reduce our carbon intensity 50% by 2030.
process at Petzl. Based on our 2020
carbon assessment, which evaluated
2019 operations, our carbon intensity was
estimated to be 212 grams for every €1 of
revenue.
2023 was largely dedicated to making
this data more reliable.
With what we’ve accomplished so far, what
remains to be done, and the complexity
of our industrial world, we’ve realized our
current efforts may not be enough to reach
the initial objective of reducing our carbon
intensity by 50%. But no matter what,
we’ll continue to communicate openly and
honestly about our progress.
We’re ready to take action alongside
our stakeholders at every level. We’re
committed to meeting the requests of our
customers — those who use our products
to play in the outdoors or work at height
— to reduce our impact and protect our
ecosystems.
SOLUTIONS
To respond to this immense challenge, this year, we’ve structured our
approach around 4 main criteria:
CONTEXT
After our f irst carbon assessment
in 2020, Petzl made it a top priority
to reduce our greenhouse gas
emissions, which is one of the leading
contributors to climate change.
Three years later, our priority remains
the same and we’re increasing our
ef forts.
We must be able to respond to growing
product demand while reducing the
resource consumption and impact caused
by our manufacturing and commercial
activity. That means increasing our ability
to innovate, to make compromises,
and to f ind new ways to work that align
with a more conservative and circular
economic model. We must continue to f ind
ways to integrate more low-impact materials,
consume fewer non-renewable resources,
improve the repairability of our products,
increase their lifespan, and reduce or reuse
our waste.
We set our course. In 2021, we made
carbon intensity our key indicator and
made it part of the decision-making
