CARBON EQUIVALENT For every 1 of business, our carbon output equivalent was 212g in 2019. Our goal is to reduce this number to 106g in 2030.
The key indicator of carbon intensity, i.e. the carbon equivalent per 1 of revenue and, by extension, the carbon equivalent per product sold, has been tracked by Petzl since 2021 and is an integral part of our decision-making process.

As a result of the work done with Carbone 4, we re now working on automating the annual carbon assessment calculation. A simple and reliable tool will be deployed throughout the company in 2023.
SOLUTIONS
In addition to company-wide carbon assessments, we also analyze environmental impacts at every stage in a product s life cycle. Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) allows us to study a wider range of impacts and structure our approach to product creation with three main criteria: eco-design, sourcing less impactful materials, and optimizing product use.
Taking action and finding solutions is only possible when we fully understand the stakes.
That s why we ve provided education and training opportunities including the Climate Fresk workshop for managers based in France.
OBJECTIVE
Reduce our carbon intensity by 50% by 2030, starting in 2019.
CONTEXT
We understand the critical need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate the effects of climate change. Petzl is focusing our environmental efforts on reducing the carbon intensity of our operations.

Objective, Context, and Solutions
SOURCES OF EMISSIONS In 2020, we conducted a carbon assessment to measure 2019 operations. This allowed us to identify the main sources of emissions.
