OUR MISSION
Exploring New Horizons The Petzl Foundation s mission is to support and initiate public interest projects through its activities in mountainous and vertical domains; projects that help bring balance to humankind s place in its natural, cultural, and economic environments. The foundation supports non-profit organizations through financial and equipment grants, as well as consultation and training.

alternative way to live in the world. A world where the ideas of competition, growth, and consumption are replaced with mutual support, partnership, and economy of means. To survive, we need a new narrative for our world. The men and women running these projects are writing one.

NECESSARY, BUT NEVER ENOUGH
The call for Ecological Transition in Mountainous Areas projects, launched in June 2022, supports those who practice or encourage sustainable lifestyles in their own way.
Our support is modest, and we know it is insufficient against the perils of climate change that humanity faces today. The United Nations secretary general referred to it as a direct existential threat . When it comes to greenhouse gases, even if every French citizen adopted sustainable heroic behaviors1 in their daily lives and investments, it would still only fix half the problem. Far from negligible, the power to drive carbon emission reduction remains largely in the hands of corporations and public officials.
