2022: WINNERS

Initially granted 50,000 to distribute among different projects, the first round had seven winners. Impressed with the project proposals, in the end, the jury decided to attribute a total sum of 64,000.

THE PETZL FOUNDATION

Supporting Ecological Transition

The mountains are on the front line of climate change. The average temperature in the Alps has climbed 2.3° C since 1850. Consequences are already visible: snow cover, water resources and natural disasters. The Petzl Foundation is committed, like Petzl, to take action in reducing impact in mountain regions. To fund new projects, an additional 100,000 was added to the foundation s annual endowment in 2022. The foundation supported a number of projects that encourage ecological transition in mountainous areas, including forest management projects, thermal renovation of a mountain hut, and education in mountain communities for young people and inhabitants.

CALL FOR PUBLIC PROJECTS

In 2022, the Petzl Foundation and Snowleader launched their first call for public projects, to encourage ecological transition in mountainous areas, uniting their efforts to help organizations and community groups who are taking action for a better tomorrow.

Creation of an organic, participatory and supportive municipal orchard for inhabitants of a small municipality located at an altitude of 1,000 m, in the Chartreuse mountains. In the future, the orchard will be able to provide fruit for distribution in school lunches. Commune du Plateau-des-Petites-Roches

Recycling climbing shoes and ropes to minimize environmental impact and waste. The climbing shoes collected are transformed into floor tiles for use in sports facilities, such as gymnasiums, fitness centers, and climbing gyms. Clean Climber France
