Digitising the French

Alps the f inal stage

In 2025 the Petzl Foundation completed the digitisation of the

main winter touring routes in the French Alps A total of 4 600

routes are now available through navigation and route planning

applications such as Cartes IGN Skitourenguru com and Yéti on

Camptocamp org

In 2026 nearly 500 classic routes in the Pyrenean massifs will

be made available to users These new itineraries will gradually

replace the old blue route markings on IGN maps many of which

had become obsolete

Preventing

accidents

In both work at height and mountain sports , safety is an absolute

priority . The Petzl Foundation supports technical training , encourages

the dissemination of risk - prevention information , and contributes to

improving knowledge of accident patterns .
