Impact Report
The avalanche bulletin is the key source of information for plan -
ning a trip on snow while avoiding critical snowpack conditions in
the f ield . On average , 30 people die in avalanches each year in
the French mountain ranges , including a signif icant proportion of
foreign skiers .
Météo France does not provide avalanche bulletins in English , or
in the two main Alpine languages , German and Italian . To f ill this
gap , the snow route - planning website Skitourenguru . com , sup -
ported by the Petzl Foundation , has offered automatic translation
of all French avalanche bulletins into English , German and Italian
since November 2025 .

translated into three languages
En October 2025 , the UIAA ( International Climbing
and Mountaineering Federation ) held its second
mountain safety symposium in Peja , Kosovo . Over
two days , 60 participants from 27 nationalities at -
tended conferences and practical workshops on
safety equipment , rescue techniques and moun -
tain medicine . Speakers and participants included
mountain leaders , guides , medical experts , rescue
professionals and representatives of associations .
Many participants came from Balkan countries ,
a region currently experiencing strong growth in
mountain activities .
Following the success of the f irst edition in Ba -
riloche Argentina 2024 and then Peja a new
symposium is planned in Nepal in 2026 during the
UIAA General Assembly

The Boulder climbing community is dedicated to maintaining clim
bing sites in Colorado USA Its volunteers improve access to
crags install toilets near climbing areas and replace ageing an
chors Supported by the Petzl Foundation in 2025 the BCC re
placed nearly 600 anchor points The association also produced
a handbook on re bolting techniques and good practice for or
ganising events It provides its volunteers with re bolting kits so
they do not have to purchase this costly equipment themselves
